Former Lady Vols basketball coach Pat Summitt a Lifetime Achievement Award from the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition during the annual meeting on Tuesday.
Summitt was honored for her contributions to the advancement and promotion of physical activity, fitness, sports, and nutrition-related programs nationwide.
Presented annually since 2007, recipients are selected based on the span and scope of an individual's career, the estimated number of lives they have touched, and the impact of their legacy.
Summitt, who stepped down as coach last month after 38 seasons, won more games than any other coach in Division I, earning eight national titles and 1,098 victories.
